Am I the only one who thought that $89 evaporative cooler tune-up was a scam?
I figured the guys charging $89 for a spring tune-up were just spraying some water and grabbing a check, so I did the pads myself for 3 years. Last month in the Heights my unit started blowing hot air anyway, and the tech showed me my water distribution tube was clogged solid with scale, which is something I never would have found on my own. Now I'm wondering if I've been slowly wrecking my cooler this whole time, so does anyone know how often that tube actually needs to be pulled and cleaned?
