Dug up 3 feet of clay to fix a slow drain in the Northeast Heights
Last month our kitchen sink kept backing up no matter how much I snaked it. Turns out the clay soil out here had crushed the old pipe under the slab, so I rented a mini excavator for $180 and replaced 12 feet of line myself. Has anyone else dealt with this clay shifting problem near the Sandias?
My neighbor had the same thing happen with his sprinkler lines out in Rio Rancho, the clay just swallows them up after a few seasons. He ended up digging the whole trench by hand because he didn't want to pay rental fees, took him a whole weekend and his back was shot for a week. Sometimes renting the machine is just the smarter move even if it stings a little.
