Found out my gutters were backwards for 5 years

I watched water pouring over the edge during a monsoon last week and finally noticed my gutter guy installed them with the slope going the wrong way toward the house. Anyone else have a contractor mess up something this basic or am I just unlucky?

Had a roofer install a skylight upside down once. Water poured in like a faucet every time it rained for two years before I noticed.

Honestly, I see it a bit differently. Two years is a long time, but not everyone is crawling up on their roof checking things out. Maybe he didn't notice till the ceiling started staining or the drywall got soft. Plus, if the skylight was in a weird spot like a hallway or a rarely used room, you could totally miss it for a while. Ngl, I've seen way too many small leaks get ignored in houses because people just assume it's condensation or something.

Call me crazy @markhall, but I would've noticed the first time water hit my living room floor. Two years of rain sounds like a lot of free indoor showers to me. At least your floorboards were probably squeaky clean.
