Hit 20,000 square feet of drywall mudding this week and my arms feel like noodles

I've been patching up my old Albuquerque house from the 70s and finally reached 20,000 square feet of mudding and taping across all the rooms. It surprised me because I didn't think I had that much wall space until I added up the garage and pantry areas. Anyone else get shocked by the actual square footage of drywall in their home when doing a big project?

Wait, I mean, 20,000 square feet of drywall mudding sounds more like you're doing a whole commercial space or huge addition. A typical house around 2,000 square feet only has about 6,000 to 8,000 square feet of wall surface, so something might be off with your math there.

Did you count your arms as noodles before or after the 20K? Mine feel like wet spaghetti with meatball knots at the shoulders. I hit 12K in my own 60s ranch and cried when I found a linen closet I forgot about. The pantry bump-out almost broke me, swore I'd hire next time. Still, there's something weirdly satisfying about looking at a flat wall knowing I made it happen even if I can't lift a coffee mug now.

Wait was that my buddy Mark who told me about his 800 sq ft condo remodel? He rented a jackhammer for a bathroom wall and hit a pipe on the third swing. Flooded his whole downstairs neighbor's place. He spent the next week in a cheap motel with no AC while the insurance guys sorted it out. Said his arms felt like wet cardboard the whole time. Now he just hires a handyman for everything over a lightbulb change.
