PSA: That plumbing supply place on Lomas saved my bacon last week

I had a 30 year old toilet valve snap clean off at 10pm on a Saturday. Called a few places and Bob's Plumbing Supply on Lomas and 12th stayed open 15 minutes late for me. Old dude named Mike walked me through replacing it in the parking lot with his phone flashlight. Anyone else have a go-to local spot that bails you out after hours?

Has anyone else noticed how these old school places seem to remember you after one visit? I stopped into Bob's once for a weird washer and Mike not only remembered my exact part six months later but asked how my bathroom remodel was going. Meanwhile I've been to Home Depot like twenty times and they still ask for my phone number at checkout. That personal touch is something you just can't get from a chain, man. It's like they actually give a damn about keeping your old house running instead of just pushing the newest plastic garbage on you.

oh man, @phoenix_carter hit the nail on the head. Mike sounds like a legend. Had a similar thing with a little Ace Hardware on Menaul a few months back. The guy let me borrow his personal wrench to unscrew a stuck kitchen faucet in the parking lot after they were closed. It's those random acts of helpfulness that make you never want to go to a big box store again.

Wait, he stayed open 15 minutes late AND fixed your toilet in the parking lot with a phone flashlight? That's wild. I had a similar thing happen with a hardware store on Central, guy let me dig through their scrap bin for a random brass fitting at 9pm. Little spots like that are gold, man. Hope you tipped that dude or at least bought him a coffee or something.
