Realized I was using way too much water on my lawn this whole time
I was watering my grass every single morning for 20 minutes like clockwork, but after a dry patch last August in the North Valley I noticed my neighbor's lawn looked way better. Turns out I was just soaking the surface and never getting the water deep enough to the roots. He told me he waters once a week for an hour with a hose timer and his grass is way healthier. Has anyone else been doing it wrong for like 5 years without realizing it?

Man I did the same thing for years before I figured it out... my neighbor Bob told me the same thing back in 2018 and I felt like an idiot. It's funny how we just assume more water is better but it's really about getting it down deep. I see this pattern everywhere honestly, like people scrubbing their hands raw with antibacterial soap when plain soap and water works just as well if you do it right. Or spending a ton on expensive kitchen gadgets when a good knife and a cutting board handle most things. We just overcomplicate stuff because we think there's a shortcut or something.

Same here man, I was watering my lawn for 15 mins twice a day like an idiot until my water bill showed up and I realized I was basically funding a swimming pool for the local earthworms lmao.
