Serious question, does anyone else shut off their swamp cooler water in October and forget until the lines freeze?

Did this in my place near Eubank two winters back and came out to a cracked line spraying water on a 28 degree morning. Now I shut the valve off Columbus Day and drain the line, no exceptions. Anyone got a better trick for getting the last bit of water out of that low spot?
