That time my swamp cooler dumped water through the ceiling at 2am

I was living over near Eubank and Lomas last summer and woke up to this drip on my forehead. The swamp cooler float valve had gotten stuck open and it just kept pumping water into the pan all night long. By the time I got up there the pan was overflowing and the water had soaked through the drywall in my hallway ceiling. I had to shut off the water line to the cooler, drain the pan with a shop vac, and then patch the ceiling the next day with a 10 dollar sheet of drywall from Home Depot. Has anyone else had a float valve fail on them in the middle of the night?

That July puddle was probably from your cooler actually working right.

Woke up to a puddle on the floor myself last July. That float valve is such a pain.
