Am I the only one who picked a swamp cooler over AC in Albuquerque and now I'm second guessing
Everyone on my street in the NE heights told me to just get refrigerated air when my old unit died last spring, but I went with a new swamp cooler instead and saved about $2,600 on the install. My logic was that our humidity is low enough that it actually works most of the summer and my electric bill stays under $90 even in July. Well, we just got through that stretch of 100 degree days and I was fine in the front rooms but the back bedroom was straight up miserable by 4pm. Now I'm wondering if I made the wrong call and should have just eaten the extra cost. The thing is, when monsoon season kicks in and the humidity jumps, the cooler turns into a wet blanket and I'm stuck. Anybody else running a swamp cooler here, and do you regret it or did you find a way to make it work?
