Vent: my irrigation timer took a dive right before the heat hit
Lost the whole front yard schedule on Tuesday when the old Rain Bird controller finally gave out after 9 years. Walked outside and the grass near the sidewalk was already crunching, that's how I knew something was off. Grabbed a cheap Orbit from Lowe's on Coors and rewired it myself in about an hour, but now I'm second guessing if I should have just paid a pro to do it right. Anyone else had luck with those digital timers in the Rio Rancho sun, or do they all crap out after a couple seasons?
My buddy in Albuquerque had the same Orbit model and it fried after two summers, like the sun just melted the display. He went back to a dumb mechanical one and swears it's been bulletproof since.
