Went with a swamp cooler over AC for my place near Nob Hill, and July was rough but the bill was $71
Got three quotes for central air and almost pulled the trigger, but went with a $1,400 cooler install instead. It kept the house around 78 on the worst afternoons, which I can live with for saving maybe $180 a month. Anyone else running a cooler through monsoon season, or did you give up and switch to refrigerated air?
Man, $71 is unreal, I ran a cooler my first two summers and just parked myself in front of it on the bad days. The swampy smell takes some getting used to when the monsoon rolls in, but that savings is hard to argue with.
