Wrote off that $40 home warranty from the mailer for 2 years, then my water heater went out on a Sunday
Got one of those junk mail flyers from a company called Total Home Guard or something like that back in 2022 and tossed it straight in the trash. My water heater finally died on a Sunday night in March, flooded about 2 inches of my garage, and a plumber quoted me $1,850 just to swap it out. My neighbor on the next street said he pays $40 a month for a warranty plan and they covered his whole swap minus a $75 fee, so I called the same company I threw away and sure enough they sent a guy out Tuesday. Cost me $115 total instead of almost two grand, and I still feel dumb for all those flyers I pitched. Anyone here actually use one of these plans long term, or do they jack up the price after the first year?
