Got a letter from my HOA about my grass being 4 inches too tall
Woke up to a certified letter last Thursday from the HOA in my complex saying my lawn was 4.7 inches and the max is 4.5. I measured it with a ruler and it was exactly 4.5 at the highest point. Spent 2 hours at the board meeting arguing about this and they still slapped me with a $50 fine. Has anyone else dealt with an HOA that's super picky about stuff like this?

Honestly, did you take a level to the ground before you measured? I had a buddy who went through this exact thing last summer. He measured his grass like five times and it was always under the limit, but the board kept saying it was too long. Turns out his neighbor's yard had a slight dip that made the grass look taller from the street, and the HOA was just eyeballing it from their car. He ended up having to bring a water level to the next meeting and prove the ground was uneven before they finally dropped the fine.

...and that's exactly why I've started noticing this whole "rules for the sake of rules" thing popping up everywhere. It's like people in charge of stuff just need to prove they're in charge, so they invent tiny violations to mess with you. I've seen it with my landlord too, measuring the gap between my blinds and the window frame with a tape measure. It's not about the grass or the blinds, it's about them showing who has the power to make your life annoying. Honestly, fighting it just gives them the energy they want.
