Heard my neighbor on the phone saying her 401k lost 12k this quarter

I was just taking out the trash last night and heard my neighbor, this older lady who lives alone, talking to her son about her retirement account dropping 12 grand in three months. She sounded scared, like she didn't know if she could still retire next year like she planned. It got me thinking about how many of us are just blindly hoping our savings do OK without really understanding what's going on. Has anyone else had that moment when retirement suddenly felt way less guaranteed than you thought?

Joke all I want but my retirement plan is basically "hope I win the lottery or die first." Seriously though, watching my own 401k take a hit this year has me rethinking that whole "coastal condo in my 60s" dream. Now I'm just aiming for "maybe I can afford a slightly nicer cardboard box.

Why not just buy dogecoin and hope for the best? At least you'll have fun losing your money instead of just boring old slow losses.
