I thought the 401k match at my job was a trick until I saw my first statement

My boss in Phoenix kept telling me to put in at least 5% to get the full company match, but I figured it was just a way to lock up my money. Then my quarterly statement came and they had put in an extra $750 for me. That's free money I was leaving on the table for two years. Has anyone else been this stubborn about a basic benefit?

Honestly it happens to the best of us. You just get stuck in a routine and stop questioning it. Took me way too long to figure out my own coffee maker. Felt like a total genius when I finally read the manual.

I mean it's just some extra cash, not like you won the lottery or anything. @bettybaker gets it, we all miss stuff sometimes.
