That fancy meal kit subscription cost me $340 before I wised up

I signed up for a meal kit service back in February because every ad made it look so easy. Three months in, I realized I was paying $85 a week for food I still had to cook, chop, and clean up after. The portions were small, the veggies went bad by day three, and I ended up ordering takeout twice a week anyway. My grocery bill didn't go down because I still bought snacks and lunch stuff. I finally cancelled after I added up the receipts and felt sick. If you're thinking about trying one, do the math on your actual habits first. Though the $85 a week does add up fast, the math on groceries is a little off since those kits replace the meat and produce you would have bought anyway. The real trap is people like us who still grab snacks and lunch out, so the kit is extra spending on top of the usual bill instead of a swap. I nearly fell for the same thing, so I get the sick feeling, but the numbers only look terrible if you count the kit as a total grocery bill rather than a convenience fee.
