The $450 espresso machine that became a dust collector

I mean, I bought into the whole fancy coffee thing during lockdown, thinking it would save me money vs cafes. Three years later and I've used it maybe 12 times, mostly the steam wand for hot chocolate. The beans go stale before I finish the bag, and honestly the $4 drip coffee from the place on Main St tastes better to me. Anyone else shell out for a hobby setup that just sits there mocking you?

Oh man, the guilt machine. I totally get it. But here's the thing nobody mentions, it's not really about the espresso, it's about the ritual. You bought a future version of yourself that wakes up at 6am, grinds beans, and sips something fancy while reading the paper. That person doesn't exist, and the machine just reminds you of that daily. I did the same with a bread maker, used it twice, and now it holds my charging cables. The real trick is to just sell it and buy yourself a nice thermos, then the $4 coffee tastes like a win instead of a failure.
