Vent: My dryer finally gave up after 14 years of moving with me
It quit mid-cycle last Sunday with that awful burning belt smell and I spent the whole day taking it apart only to find the drum roller had basically disintegrated. Ended up ordering a new one for $480 since the replacement parts would've been almost half that anyway... anyone else holding onto appliances way past their prime?

Did you try looking up what a full set of new rollers and a belt would cost before you decided on the replacement? I had a similar situation with my 12 year old washer where the main control board died and the part alone was over $200, so I ended up getting a whole new machine for not much more. In my experience once you hit that 10-12 year mark the repair costs start adding up fast and it's usually smarter to just cut your losses.
