A client dinner in Austin showed me why we need better partner contracts

We were pitching a big project together, and my agency partner started promising things our contract didn't cover. I had to jump in and correct them, which made us both look bad. How do you handle it when a partner overpromises in front of a client?

Started promising things our contract didn't cover" is a wild move.

See this all the time with companies over promising to get the sale. Internet providers saying "up to" speeds they can't actually deliver, or gyms selling memberships with "unlimited" classes that are always full. They bank on you being too busy to fight it later. It's a shady way to do business that just burns trust.

Ugh, that's the worst! @dylan604, my old landlord pulled something like that, swore the rent included parking. Guess what the lease didn't mention? We had to pay an extra hundred bucks a month just to use our own driveway.
