Had to pick between two agency partners for a client event in Denver
One agency offered a huge venue with a basic setup for $5,000. The other was a smaller local firm that wanted $7,500 but promised a full custom experience. Went with the cheaper option to save the client budget. The 'huge venue' was a freezing cold warehouse with one sad coffee urn. Anyone else get burned by a partner that oversold their space?

Felt that pain last year with a conference in Chicago. Booked a "modern loft space" that turned out to be a dusty attic with one power outlet. The photos were from 2015, easy. Now I make them do a live video walkthrough on Zoom before signing anything. Saves so much trouble.

Yeah the live video walkthrough idea from @danielmason is smart. I got burned on a "cozy studio" that was basically a closet, so now I also check the street view on Google Maps to see the actual building and neighborhood. It shows you if the place looks run down or if the area seems okay.

Is all that really worth the hassle for a rental?
