I finally asked my biggest agency partner about their client pipeline last month

We have been referring work to a design agency in Portland for about 3 years now, and last week I found out they have been sitting on a pile of leads they never told us about. They kept saying they had no overflow work for us, but the real reason was they wanted to keep the clients to themselves. How do you balance trust and transparency when an agency partner seems to hoard opportunities?

Three years is too long to discover they've been gatekeeping clients like that.

Man, that is just brutal. I feel for you, honestly. Three years is a long time to be building trust with someone only to find out they were holding out on you like that. It makes you question every single conversation you had about "no overflow work" and wonder if they were just stringing you along the whole time. That level of gatekeeping is pretty disrespectful to a partner who's been sending them business consistently. I'd be seriously rethinking the whole arrangement if I were in your shoes, or at least having a very direct conversation about why transparency is going to be a non-negotiable from now on. You deserve better than that.
