I finally hit 50 referral partners this quarter and it caught me off guard
I set a goal of 30 new partners for Q3 and somehow landed 50, mostly from a niche online community I started posting in back in June. Has anyone else seen a big spike from a specific group that you didn't expect?

Heard a sales coach talk about this exact thing a few weeks ago. Said the best referrals come from communities where you actually add value instead of just pitching. People watch how you act in those spaces and decide if they want to work with you. Sounds like that online group trusted you because you weren't pushing hard. That's probably why the number shot up so fast. Smart move posting there.

Oliver_wilson49 you nailed it. That sales coach was right. I had almost the exact same thing happen in a woodworking forum I joined. Spent months just answering questions and sharing build tips without ever mentioning my side business. When someone finally asked what I did, a few referrals came in. Then a few more. Before I knew it, that group was responsible for half my new clients that year. It was all because I showed up to help, not to sell. People notice that stuff.

And honestly, that kind of patience is rare now. I saw a guy in a fishing group spend two years just helping people tie rigs and find good spots before he even hinted he guided trips. By the time he mentioned it, he had a waiting list because everyone already knew he was the real deal.
