Just realized our biggest partnership referral source was a total myth - 18 months down the drain
Found out last Tuesday that the agency we partnered with never actually sent us any leads. All those happy client meetings they claimed came from their network were just regular referrals from my old fire station buddies. We signed an exclusive referral deal with them back in March 2023 and I just now checked the data. Zero. Zip. Not a single lead. Had to call their CEO and ask point blank what was going on. Anyone else ever been ghosted by a partner who promised the world?

Nodding my head so hard reading this - same thing happened to me with a "strategic partner" who claimed they were sending us tons of referrals but it was just people I'd already met at networking events. Brutal way to learn that lesson (but hey, at least you caught it).
