The spreadsheet trick that saved my agency partnership from sinking

I run a small web design shop and we partner with a larger marketing agency in Austin. For months we kept missing deadlines because our handoff emails got lost in their inbox. I tried Trello, Slack, even sticky notes on their office door. What finally worked was a shared Google Sheet with a color-coded status column. Green means on track, yellow means waiting on them, red means stuck. We both check it every morning and our close rate jumped from 60% to 90% in 3 weeks. Has anyone else had luck with simple tools instead of fancy project management software?

Started off thinking this was way too basic to work, but honestly you just changed my whole view on project tracking. I always thought you needed some fancy software with dashboards and notifications, but a simple color coded sheet sounds genius because everyone actually uses it every day. The real trick is that it forces both sides to look at the same thing at the same time instead of relying on emails getting buried. I'm definitely trying this with our print vendor since we have the same handoff problems. Sometimes the SIMPLEST fix is the one that actually sticks.
