Vent: A potential partner sent me a 30-slide deck about their 'synergy' before telling me their actual service.
I was on a discovery call last week with a marketing agency that wanted to team up. For the first 20 minutes, they just kept talking about their 'culture' and 'shared vision' using a huge slide deck. I finally had to ask, point blank, what specific tasks they actually perform for clients. Turns out they just run Facebook ads. The whole thing felt like a weird corporate theater show. It wasted everyone's time. Has anyone else run into partners who overcomplicate the basics like this?

Ugh, that's the worst. Did you get the feeling they were hiding their lack of real skill behind all that jargon, or were they just genuinely convinced the fluff was important?

Honestly, I used to be the person making those slides. I thought all that synergy talk made us sound smart and professional. Then I had a client just sigh and ask for the plain English version over coffee. It hit me that I was just dressing up simple work. Now I lead with "we do this specific thing" and save the deck. That call sounds painfully familiar.
