Air fryer vs. oven for frozen fries - I tested both and here's what happened
I finally got sick of reading conflicting opinions so I tried frozen crinkle cuts side by side last Friday. Air fryer at 400 for 12 minutes versus oven at 425 for 20 minutes. The air fryer won on texture big time - crispy outside without being dry - but I could only fit like 15 fries in there. Oven batch fed 4 people easy but they came out floppy. Anyone else deal with the tiny basket problem or am I just too greedy with my potato portions?

That Mark guy buying a second air fryer for 15 bucks is a genius move honestly. But here is my question about the foil trick norag66 mentioned - doesnt lining the basket with foil mess up the airflow? I tried that with tots once and they came out steamed on the bottom side where the foil blocked the holes. Did Mark ever try the foil method or did he just go straight to buying the backup unit? Because I wonder if the soggy batch problem was from stacking or from blocking the vents.

My buddy Mark tried this exact same thing last month and he said the basket situation drove him insane. He ended up doing three batches of air fryer fries for just him and his wife and the last batch was cold by the time they ate it. He told me he even tried shaking the basket halfway through to fit more but they just stacked on top of each other and came out half soggy. The oven did feed a whole party at his Super Bowl thing though but everyone complained they wanted the air fryer ones instead. He finally gave up and bought a second air fryer off Facebook Marketplace for 15 bucks just for fries. Now his kitchen counter looks like a Best Buy display.
