Burnt my chicken wings 3 times in a row, then my sister dropped a truth bomb
I was complaining about how my wings kept coming out dry even after trying different temps and times. She just looked at me and said "you're crowding the basket, genius." Ever had someone say something so obvious it made you feel like an idiot?

Man that exact thing happened to me with french fries. I was getting mad because they came out soggy every time, tried different oils and temps and everything. My roommate watched me dump a whole bag of frozen fries in the basket and goes "you know those are supposed to be in a single layer right?" Felt like such a dummy. Air fryers are basically tiny convection ovens, they need space for the hot air to move around. Now I do wings in batches of like 6-8 at most, shake them halfway through, and they come out crispy every time.

Bet @terrybennett nailed it. Most people overcrowd their air fryer and then blame the machine. Single layer and a good shake mid cook makes all the difference.

Wait only 6-8 wings at a time? That's like one serving for me, do you just stand there cooking wings all night long?
