Found a hack for crispy frozen fries without preheating

I was making frozen fries at 6pm after a long cleaning shift and forgot to preheat the air fryer. They still came out golden and crunchy in 12 minutes at 400. Anyone else skip the preheat and get good results?

Did you flip them halfway through or just toss them in and walk away? I've found the brand matters too, some frozen fries are just better at holding up without the preheat.

You said brand matters and you're right. But nobody talks about the age of the oil. If your oil is even a little old those frozen fries soak it up and get greasy no matter how good the brand is. I use fresh oil every time I make frozen fries. Seems wasteful but the difference is night and day. The fries stay crispy and don't taste like everything else you fried that week.

Oh I read somewhere that the moisture content in different brands is what really determines if this works lol
