I spent $30 on a silicone air fryer basket and it changed my whole cleanup game
I used to just use the metal rack that came with my fryer, and scrubbing off stuck-on grease was a nightmare every single time. About six months ago, I saw a silicone basket on sale and figured I'd give it a shot. Now I just pop the whole thing out, give it a quick wash in the sink, and it's done in under a minute. Does anyone else use these, or have you found another trick that makes cleanup easier?

Changed your whole cleanup game" is a bit strong. I tried one of those silicone baskets and it was a letdown. The material held onto grease smells after a few uses, no matter how much I washed it. It also got way too floppy when full of hot food, making it a spill risk. I went back to the metal rack and found a good soak in hot, soapy water makes scrubbing easy enough.

Yeah, I saw a whole thing about how silicone can actually absorb oils over time. Once that happens, the smell just bakes in every time you use it. Makes sense why a good metal rack wins out, even if it needs a soak. That floppy spill risk sounds like a nightmare with something hot too. Sometimes the old way is just the better way.

Read a forum post where a chemist explained that silicone is porous on a microscopic level. It can trap oil molecules deep inside the material. That's why baking it just drives the smell back out. A metal rack might look worse with baked on gunk, but at least the grease sits on the surface where soap can break it down. Makes the choice pretty clear for anything greasy.
