Overheard my coworker say she never preheats her air fryer

She said it saves time and the food still comes out crispy. I always preheat for 3-5 minutes. Tried skipping it with some frozen fries last night and they came out a little soggy on one side. Am I doing something wrong or is she just lucky with her model?

Used to think skipping preheat was crazy talk but honestly tried it with some chicken tenders last week and they came out fine. Guess it depends on what you're cooking and how thick it is.

Piled onto that train myself last month. Threw some frozen fish sticks in a cold oven because I was too lazy to wait and they turned out way crispier than usual. Honestly I think it might work better for thinner stuff that doesn't need a ton of oven time. The only thing I wouldn't risk it with is something like a big casserole or a frozen pizza. But for quick snacks it's a total game changer.
