Rant: spent $35 on a silicone air fryer liner and it melted into my fries
Ngl I thought I was being smart buying that silicone liner to keep the basket clean, but it fused to my sweet potato fries at 400 degrees and now I'm picking orange bits out of my dinner. Has anyone else had these things fail on them or did I just get a bad batch?

Check the temperature rating on that liner first. Most silicone air fryer liners are only rated up to 425 degrees but the actual heat at the basket surface can spike WAY higher than that. I'd bet yours was just fine until the direct heat exceeded its max temperature.

The real hidden issue is that silicone liners trap hot air against the basket walls and mess up the factory airflow design, so the heat gets concentrated in weird spots. That's why some people get burning smells even if the liner itself isn't melting, just cooking leftover oils at insane temperatures. It's less about the liner failing and more about how it forces the air fryer to work against its own engineering.

My buddy Mike melted a hole through one of those silicone liners in about 3 minutes on his first use. Smelled like burning tires for a week afterward.
