Serious question, do you preheat your air fryer or just throw stuff in cold?
So back in February I was at my buddy Dave's place in Akron watching the game and he made these frozen mozzarella sticks in his air fryer. He just dumped them in cold, no preheat, 400 degrees for 6 minutes, and they came out perfect, crispy outside, cheese all gooey. I tried the exact same thing at home the next night in my own air fryer and they were soggy on one side and burnt on the other. Then I read online that you are supposed to preheat for 3 to 5 minutes and I tried that and honestly it was not that much better. Now I'm seeing people in comments swear preheating is a waste of time and others say it is required for anything breaded. I have done about 20 batches since then and I still cannot tell a real difference with most foods, except maybe fries. So here is my question, do you preheat or not, and does it actually depend on what you are cooking or is this whole thing just people repeating stuff they read somewhere? Give me your real experience, not what the manual says.
