Swapped out my deep fryer for an air fryer after burning my arm on hot oil last month

I used to make chicken wings the old way in a pot of oil but after that burn I grabbed a $40 air fryer at Target and now they come out just as crispy in half the time, has anyone else made the switch and regretted giving up the extra crunch?

Wait, you're scrubbing grease off CEILING TILES? I never once thought about grease hitting the ceiling. That's insane. I just assumed it all stayed in the pot and on the stove top. Now I'm paranoid about my own kitchen. The hot oil splash on my arm was bad enough, but knowing there's a whole layer of grease above my head the whole time makes me feel gross. My air fryer is on the counter with no mess at all, so I guess that's one more reason I'm happy with the switch. No ceiling grease, no burn scars, just crispy wings.

Did you also have to scrub grease off your ceiling tiles after frying wings? I swapped mine out after a hot oil splash gave my forearm a permanent reminder to pay attention. The air fryer wings are solid, but I gotta say, I miss the smell of a greasy kitchen more than the crunch itself. My dog definitely misses the floor scraps from the oil method though.

Yeah, I feel you on the ceiling tiles. I had the same problem. What worked for me was switching to a higher temp oil and using a splatter screen that covers the whole pan. Cuts way down on the mess. And for the smell, I found that a little bit of old bay in the rinse water for the cleaning rags keeps that greasy kitchen smell around without the actual grease. @margaret99 your dog will adjust, mine did once I started tossing him a few air fryer scraps before seasoning them. The crunch trade-off is worth it for less scrubbing time, if you ask me.
