Had a guy tell me I was wasting time washing landing gear bearings in solvent
Used to scrub em by hand for 20 minutes each till the old timer showed me he just soaks em in an ultrasonic cleaner for 5. Saved me hours on a C-check last Tuesday. Anyone else got a shortcut that made you feel dumb for not trying it sooner?

Oh man, I literally read something about this the other day. There was this thread where a guy said he just sprays WD-40 on em and lets em sit for ten minutes, then wipes them clean. I tried it on a set of trailer bearings and it worked way better than I expected. I mean maybe it's not as thorough as a full solvent bath but for a quick job between hauls it beats scrubbing by a mile. Idk, sometimes the simple stuff really is the best.

Yeah, totally agree with you on the "simple stuff really is the best" part. It's funny how often we overcomplicate things when a can of WD-40 and some patience does the job half the time. I've been in a pinch before where I didn't have time for a full strip down and just hit some rusty bolts with it. Worked good enough to get me through the day without any issues. Sometimes you just gotta go with what's in the garage and call it good enough.
