Heard an old-timer swear by camera borescopes over the $400 snake ones

Last month I was helping a guy in the hangar in Tulsa track a fuel line blockage on a Cessna 172, and he pulled out a cheap USB borescope he said he paid $25 for at a pawn shop. He told me the expensive snake cameras flex too much and lose their picture right when you need it, while the stiff camera on a wire gets past tight corners better. Anybody else switch to a camera-on-a-stick setup and never look back at the big-name scopes?

Wait, a $25 pawn shop borescope beat out a $400 one on a Cessna? That's wild, I would've bet money the cheap one would crap out halfway through. That old timer must have done this a million times to figure that out, cause I always figured the flex was the whole point of those expensive snakes. But now that I think about it, the floppy ones do drive me nuts when they just flop around and lose focus right at the worst moment. The stiff wire thing sounds kinda backwards but also kinda genius, like a poor man's fiber optic that just works. Guess I'm gonna have to hit up a pawn shop next time I need to check a wall cavity, cause I sure ain't dropping four bills on something that gives up on me.
