Just swapped from a standard 3/8 ratchet to a low-profile flex-head for a tight spot on a Cessna 172's cowling. The difference was night and day.
Was doing a 100-hour on a 172 last week, trying to get at a nut on the back of the alternator bracket. My regular ratchet handle was too long and the head was too bulky, kept hitting the firewall. Grabbed a buddy's low-profile flex-head from his box, and it slid right in with enough swing. Took 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes of cussing. What other 'tight access' tools have saved you guys a ton of time on light singles?

Oh man, my buddy swears by his little right-angle drill adapter for spark plugs on tight Lycomings. That thing is a lifesaver.

Honestly it's wild how often the right cheap tool fixes a huge headache. Tbh we all just muscle through stuff until someone shows us the simple fix. Ngl I see it everywhere, not just with engines. People will fight a simple task for an hour before looking for the proper little adapter or bracket. Makes you wonder what else we're all doing the hard way right now.

Yeah, those right-angle adapters are a total game changer for sure. Parker_sullivan, your buddy is spot on, I fought with a back plug on a 540 for way too long before I caved and got one. Honestly felt like an idiot for not grabbing one sooner, it cuts the job time in half. Just makes that whole awkward reach so much less of a fight.
