Pro tip: A 30 year A&P told me to stop chasing the manual on every squawk and I've been doing it wrong for 6 years
I was doing a flap rig on a King Air 200 in Des Moines last week and the book called for a 0.020 inch gap at the inboard roller. The 30 year guy next to me said, 'Check the other wing first, they never wear the same.' He was right. The left side was at 0.038 and the right was at 0.021. So I set them both to 0.030 and the flaps finally tracked straight on the test run. Six years of following the manual to the letter and I never once thought to compare both sides before adjusting. Has anyone else had old timers drop a tip that made you rethink your whole routine?
