Warning: that cheap borescope I bought off Amazon gave me a false reading on a cylinder wall

Picked up a $30 model last month and it showed scoring that wasn't there... turned out the lens was just dirty. Has anyone else had a cheap inspection tool lead them down a rabbit hole of unnecessary work?

3 of the 4 led bulbs on mine crapped out after 2 uses so I'm already in the market for a replacement. The picture quality was grainy even when the lens was clean, can't imagine trying to trust that for spotting scoring. What brand was yours so I know which one to avoid?

Whoa, hold up. Two uses and three bulbs are dead? That's either some TERRIBLE luck or you got a dud. I mean, is grain on a cheap camera really gonna mess up your whole scoring system?

Honestly, think you're confusing bad bulbs with the lens fogging issue-I'd check for moisture before trashing it.
