A customer's question about sensor placement changed my whole approach

Last Tuesday I was finishing up a system in a split level over in Maplewood and the homeowner asked why I put the motion sensor in the hallway instead of the living room. I gave my usual spiel about coverage patterns but then she pointed out her dog sleeps on the couch and would set it off every night. She was right, I never even asked about pets before running the wire. Now I spend five minutes at the start of every job asking about animals, kids, and furniture layout. Has anyone else had a client catch something obvious that you just assumed was fine?

Pets are a pretty standard question for anyone who installs systems, honestly.
