Can we talk about the panel swap at the Oak Street duplex that finally clicked for me?
Spent 6 hours last Tuesday at a duplex on Oak Street fighting a 20 year old panel where every zone was labeled wrong (whoever did it wrote 'back door' on 4 different zones). Around hour 5 I quit trusting the labels and just walked the house with my toner, and found two windows that were never wired at all. Turns out the homeowner had been paying for monitoring on dead zones for who knows how long. How do you all handle relabeling on a takeover job, do you charge extra or just eat the time?
Heard a guy on a podcast say he bills takeover relabels as a separate line item so the customer sees why the price went up. Charging for it upfront beats eating 6 hours and being mad about it later.
