Finally got a clean run through a finished ceiling without a single patch
For years, I'd drill a pilot hole, then try to fish the wire with a coat hanger and a lot of luck. Last Tuesday, I was doing a retrofit in a 1920s house and grabbed my old Greenlee glow rod set on a whim. I taped the sensor wire to the tip, pushed it up through the first hole I drilled, and it came out the second hole 14 feet away on the first try. I didn't have to cut a single extra access point. What's your go-to trick for fishing wires in tight spots with finished ceilings?

Honestly sounds like a miracle, that old house must have been built on a lucky day. My go-to trick is just accepting I'm gonna have to patch something.

Built on a lucky day" is a bit much, isn't it?

What if the luck comes from the original builders using materials that aged well together? Like old growth wood and lime mortar that move at the same rate.
