First time I had to fix a panel I installed 3 years ago
Got a call from a customer in Renton saying their motion detector kept false tripping around 2 AM. Drove out there expecting a spider or a bad sensor. Turns out the battery in the panel had started leaking and corroded one of the terminal connections. I had to grind off the corrosion and replace the connector right there on site. Has anyone else had batteries fail like that way before the expected lifespan?

Had a buddy who did alarm work down in Portland for years. Told me about a system he installed new in a house, showed up two years later for a low battery warning and the thing looked like it was sweating acid. Corrosion had bridged two terminals on the main panel and it was throwing all kinds of weird faults. He said the battery was a major brand too, not some cheap knockoff. Ended up having to replace the whole terminal block and clean the board with alcohol. Guess some batches just go bad faster than others.

Hearing that the battery was a major brand just makes it worse somehow. @johnflores, did your buddy ever figure out if it was a bad batch or just a weird fluke with that particular house?
