Found a faster way to test zones during panel installs
I used to short each zone with a wire to test it but it took forever on a 16 zone job in Phoenix last Tuesday. Switched over to using a multimeter in continuity mode and touched the terminals directly. Anyone else use this trick or is there a better method for testing zones quick?

Wait, did you just say you used to short zones with a wire? I've been doing that for years and feeling like a genius. Looks like I'm the last one to the party on this trick.

Fair enough but I have saved way more time just learning the real routes.

Man I feel like the last one to figure out how to use a screwdriver sometimes, so you are way ahead of me. I spent like three years shorting zones by climbing up and down the ladder like a dummy, thinking I was being thorough. Then a buddy saw me doing it and just laughed, handed me a piece of wire, and said "here, save your knees." I felt like an absolute clown but hey, now I'm part of the club too I guess. Better late than never, right?
