Found out our city requires a permit for ANY panel swap, even a like for like, and 6 of my jobs last month would have failed inspection
Was chatting with a guy from the county permit office at the supply house on Tuesday. He mentioned that as of January 1st, our city started requiring a permit and inspection for every panel swap, even if you're just replacing a 20 year old box with the same model. I had no clue. I pulled 6 panels in the last 30 days and not one had a permit. Now I'm worried about what happens if any of those homes get sold or worse, have a fire. The fine is $500 per job plus double permit fees. Has anyone else run into this in their area, and how do you handle it with customers who don't want to pay for the inspection?
