Had a keypad lock up on a brand new install yesterday
It was a Vista panel with a 6160 keypad, fresh out of the box. The screen just went blank after the first code entry, no beeps, nothing. I had to pull the whole unit off the wall and check the data line voltage, which was fine. Ended up swapping it with a spare from the truck, but it killed an extra hour on a tight schedule. Anyone run into a DOA keypad straight from the factory lately?

Isn't it more likely the installer just had a bad wiring connection or grounding issue?

Yeah, I used to think DOA stuff was super rare, but man, it's been happening more often lately. Had a similar thing with a motion sensor last month, just dead out of the box. Makes you double-check everything now, which is a pain.
