Hit 500 panel installs last week and it hit me different
I was just counting up my work orders for the year and realized I passed 500 residential alarm panels installed since I started. That's like 500 houses where someone trusted me to hook up their safety system (plus a ton of keypads and motion sensors I lost count of). Got me thinking about how many false alarms I've accidentally caused along the way though. Anyone else ever tally up their install count and get a weird feeling about it?

Read an article saying false alarms drop with newer panels actually.

Read an article" - since when do articles outweigh my neighbor's alarm going off at 3 AM for a moth?

Man, that number really DOES hit different when you look back on it. I've had my share of those 3 AM callbacks for false alarms, and let me tell you, it's usually the motion sensor sensitivity that's the culprit. @the_charles mentioned the newer panels helping, and he's right, but you still gotta be careful with placement. I always put a little extra time into aiming those PIR sensors away from vents or windows where drafts can trigger them. Saves everyone a headache down the road.
