Old timer ripped into my wire runs and I had to listen

Had a job at a church in Phoenix last summer. Old guy named Hank was watching me pull wire. He just shook his head and said "you're making a rat's nest son." I thought my runs were fine. Clean. Straight. He pointed out I had three wires crossing the same stud bay for no reason. Could have run them together with one staple. Saved myself 45 minutes. I was real pissed at first. But I changed how I plan every run now. Map it out before you touch the coil. Has anyone else had a random old timer set you straight on something basic?
