Tried a new way to run wire in a tight attic crawlspace yesterday
Had to get a line from the panel to a new motion sensor in a finished garage. Instead of my usual fish tape, I grabbed a cheap fiberglass driveway marker from the hardware store and taped the wire to it. Thing was super flexible and pushed right through the insulation without snagging. Saved me probably an hour of fighting with the old stuff. Anyone else got a weird tool they use for tight runs like that?

Oh, that's a clever idea for getting through insulation. Just a heads up, though, those fiberglass rods can sometimes splinter pretty badly if they bend too much. I've had better luck with the purpose-made glow rods for that kind of work, they're a bit sturdier.

Yeah, those fiberglass splinters are the worst, like getting attacked by a pissed-off cactus. Glow rods are definitely the smarter move if you can get them. Last time I tried the cheap route, I spent more time picking shards out of my hands than actually doing the job. Learned that lesson the hard way for sure.

What’s the worst thing you’ve had to dig out of your hands, @xena373? I’ve pulled metal shards and wood splinters but fiberglass is its own special kind of misery. Glow rods sound like the kind of upgrade that pays for itself in saved time and frustration.
