Vent: chat with a commercial GC last week made me rethink my whole approach to wireless sensors

He said he's been replacing my brand's gear because his guys keep pulling the tamper springs out by accident when mounting them, and I never even thought about how my install sequence might be the weak link, anyone else run into a customer changing your work method because of what the general told them?

A buddy of mine does low voltage work and he told me a story about a GC who made him switch to a whole different mounting plate system. The GC's guys kept breaking the clips on his sensors whenever they had to pull a wire through a tight spot, so the GC just told him to use a different brand that had more durable clips. My buddy said he was mad at first but then realized the GC was right about the weak point in his install. Now he uses the new plate system and his callbacks dropped by like half. Sometimes you gotta listen to the GC because they see things you dont when dealing with unskilled labor on site every day.

James has a good point about the GC seeing the weak spots. My first batch of sensors had a plastic clip that would snap if you looked at it wrong, and a GC pointed it out after his guys broke three in one week. I switched to a metal clip design for that model and the breakage stopped. So yeah, @james_singh7 is spot on that listening to the GC can save you a ton of headaches.
