Walked into a new build in Franklin and counted 6 can lights drilled right through the fire blocking
I was doing a rough-in walk at a new build in Franklin last week and kept seeing the same thing over and over. The electrician had drilled 6 can light holes straight through the top plates in the hall and stairwell walls. Those plates are the fire blocking that keeps a house fire from running up the wall cavity to the attic. I snapped a few photos and showed the GC, and he just shrugged and said it passed inspection. I know we are the alarm guys and not the framers, but when I am pulling wire through the same walls it is hard to not see it. We ended up routing our smokes around it, but I am still thinking about those holes. How do you all bring stuff like this up without becoming the guy nobody wants on the job?
